To the residents and property owners of Rome!
The Town of Rome will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, 6:00 pm, April 18, 2024 at the Rome Town Hall. It was moved from the Wisconsin State scheduled date of Tuesday April 16.
We encourage all town residents to attend and show your support for efforts to restore our Lakes Arrowhead, Camelot, and Sherwood back to a healthy condition.
There has been rapid advancement in technology to reverse the effects of excess chemical contaminants, contaminants which have decayed the condition of our waters. While this new technology will help restore our lakes, the effect will impact the entire town. Our 3 lakes are the primary reason Rome has flourished over the past years, and this process will help ensure continued growth. We are asking for town support to help fund, through non-levy dollars, this technology to reverse the deterioration of our lakes and to maintain home and property values. Without this additional support, we may experience drastic reductions in home and land values in the Town of Rome in coming years. Independent studies support the direct correlation of water conditions and property values. Our 3 lakes are currently listed as eutrophic* by the WI DNR. These conditions can be reserved for lakes 500 years or older.
Please mark your calendars.
*Eutrophic: Having waters rich in phosphates, nitrates, and organic nutrients that promote a proliferation of plant life, especially algae.
